NUST admission 2027 complete guide: BS/MS/PhD programmes and campuses, NET-2027 series dates, 2026-27 fee, merit formula with aggregate calculator, hostels,…

Updated 29 October 2026. Need your degree, Nikah Nama or police certificate attested for a job or visa abroad? This guide walks you through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) process one step at a time, with real screenshots of the official portal, MOFA’s own fee table, and three quick tools to work out your route, prerequisites and total fee.
Since Pakistan joined the Hague Apostille Convention (in force for Pakistan from 9 March 2023), documents for member countries get a single Apostille from MOFA and need no embassy stamp. Countries outside the list still need MOFA attestation followed by the destination embassy’s legalisation.
Country list: MOFA’s “List of countries accepting Apostille” (apostille.mofa.gov.pk), checked 29 October 2026. Always confirm with the receiving employer, university or embassy.
MOFA does not verify documents from scratch. It attests documents that the issuing authority has already verified. Pick your document to see the exact chain and fee.
Requirements from MOFA’s official “Checklist for Attestation of Documents” (apostille.mofa.gov.pk/sops) and fee structure.
Go to portal-attestation.mofa.gov.pk. The same account handles both general attestation and apostille; the “Sign Up” button on apostille.mofa.gov.pk opens this portal too.

Click Create Applicant Account and enter your first name, last name, email, CNIC (format 12345-1234567-1) and a password of at least 8 characters.

Sign in and choose the service: Attestation (for countries like UAE, Qatar, Kuwait) or Apostille (for listed countries). Select the document category (personal, educational, legal, commercial, experience) and destination country.
Upload the front and back of each document with the earlier HEC / IBCC / NADRA stamps visible, plus your CNIC. Scan in colour, flat and uncropped.
The portal shows the fee for the documents you selected. MOFA’s published fee is per document:

For apostille, MOFA’s notice says to visit on your scheduled appointment date and time; documents are processed only on that date. If you can’t go yourself, MOFA lists five authorised couriers (see below).

Check the stamp or apostille certificate before leaving: your name, document title and number must be correct. Apostilles can be checked on MOFA’s “Verify Apostille” page.
MOFA fees from the official fee structure. Courier service charges are extra and set by each courier; ask them for a quote.
MOFA lists these couriers for the public to send documents for attestation:
| Courier | UAN / phone |
|---|---|
| TCS | (021) 111-123-456 |
| Gerry’s International | 0900-07860 (landline), 9999 (mobile), 051-8439351 |
| Excellent Courier Services (ECS) | (051) 111-327-327, 051-6166511 |
| Leopards Courier | 111-300-786, 051-4856463-66 |
| M&P Express Logistics | (021) 111-202-202, 0316-0020337 |
Besides the Ministry in Islamabad, MOFA camp offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta attest documents. MOFA says camp-office attestations carry the same authority and never need re-attestation in Islamabad.
MOFA’s published fee structure is Rs 3,000 per personal, educational or experience document, Rs 4,500 per legal document and Rs 12,000 per commercial document.
Yes, for university degrees. MOFA’s checklist says degrees must be attested by HEC first; medical degrees need HEC and the Ministry of National Health Services. Read our HEC attestation guide.
Yes. Saudi Arabia is on MOFA’s list of countries accepting Apostille, so an Apostille replaces embassy legalisation. The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait are not on the list.
You can use one of MOFA’s five authorised couriers (TCS, Gerry’s, ECS, Leopards, M&P). For FBR taxpayer certificates, MOFA attests same-day only when submitted by the applicant or a blood relative.
MOFA says attestation of permanent documents such as birth certificates, Nikah Nama, educational certificates, death certificates and NADRA documents always remains valid.
MOFA attests documents in Urdu or English. Translations must show English in one column on the same page alongside the other language.
