NUST Admission 2027: Complete Guide (NET Dates, Fee, Merit, Hostels, Scholarships)
Updated 30 October 2026. NET is held at Islamabad and Quetta (computer-based) and at Karachi and Gilgit (paper-based).
2. Programme finder (BS)
NUST offers 40+ undergraduate programmes. Pick one to see where it is offered, which NET paper you sit, the HSSC background you need and the 2026-27 tuition.

3. When NUST admits, and how many times NET is held
Undergraduate admission happens once a year, for the Fall semester. But the entry test runs in four series, so you can sit NET more than once; NUST picks your best score. In any one series you get only one attempt per discipline, and each series needs its own registration and fee.

4. Eligibility
60% in SSC and HSSCAt least 60% aggregate in each of Matric and FSc/FA (or IBCC equivalence).
Apply on Part-IFSc/FA students can sit NET on Part-I marks; admission is confirmed when Part-II results arrive.
O/A LevelNeed an IBCC equivalence with 60%. A-Level final-year students apply on O-Level equivalence.
Pre-medical to engineeringAllowed, but you must clear NUST’s online 8-week Mathematics course with 60% before 25 July 2027.
ICS to engineeringEligible for all engineering programmes; Chemistry is cleared as a remedial course in the first semester.
IBCC attestationAll candidates, including Matric/FSc, must get documents attested by IBCC before submitting them at admission.

6. Aggregate calculator
NUST’s merit formula: NET 75% + HSSC (or Part-I) 15% + SSC 10%. A-Level final-year candidates get 25% on their O-Level equivalence instead.
NUST reports NET as a percentage
Closing merits vary by programme and year; NUST publishes the previous session’s closing merit on its website for guidance.
7. How to apply, step by step
Register on the UG portal
Go to ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk and click New Registration for NET with a valid email. NUST emails you a password.

Enter your details and programme preferences and upload a passport-size photo taken within the last month, with a plain background. You get a confirmation email after submitting.
Pay the processing fee
Log in again, print the fee invoice from My Account and pay Rs 5,000 (USD 40) per series via 1-Link (verified instantly) or credit card. Foreign nationals pay Rs 10,000 / USD 80. The fee is non-refundable and valid only for that series.
Pick your test slot
For computer-based NET (Islamabad, Quetta) choose your date and session; you get a roll number, centre and login. Paper-based slots (Karachi, Gilgit) are allotted first come, first served.
Take the test
Bring your admit card and original CNIC/B-form. Results are added to your account; you can retake in a later series to improve.
Track merit lists and pay dues
NUST generates merit by your preferences. If selected, download the provisional selection letter and pay the admission dues on time, or you drop out of the process. You can change preferences once during selection.

BBA, BS Accounting & Finance and BS Tourism & Hospitality also pay an HBS licensing fee of Rs 15,000 a year. Summer/repeat courses cost Rs 11,000 per credit hour. International students: USD 5,400 a year tuition plus USD 600 admission. Fees are subject to revision.
9. Hostel life at NUST
H-12 has separate hostels for men and women, each with its own mess. Rooms are allotted by application seniority, mainly to outstation students, and only students on statutory courses at the Islamabad campus are eligible. National UG students in semesters 1–3 get tri-seater rooms.

At allotment you pay refundable security of Rs 25,000 plus Rs 20,000 mess security, and a six-month hostel challan before moving in. New UG students apply for a hostel through the admissions portal; existing students use their Qalam account.
10. Scholarships and financial aid
Need-based scholarshipsPartial or full tuition for the whole degree. Apply through the online NFAAF form by the same deadline as the admission form.

InstalmentsFee in instalments is allowed, but not for admission or first-semester dues.

To be considered for NUST’s own scholarships you must also apply for external scholarships (PEEF, BEEF, SEEF etc.) and show proof. NUST’s Financial Aid Office in H-12 is open 9:30 am – 4:30 pm on working days.

12. MS and PhD admissions
Apply on pgadmission.nust.edu.pk. NUST offers Masters in 60+ streams and PhDs across engineering, computing, business, social and natural sciences and biosciences. Fall is the main intake; the Fall 2026 window ran from 19 April to 5 July 2026.

How many times a year does NUST take admission?
Undergraduate admission is once a year, for Fall. The entry test (NET) is held in four series between November and July, and your best score is used.
What is the NUST merit formula?
NET 75%, HSSC (or FSc Part-I) 15% and SSC 10%. A-Level final-year students are given 25% weight on O-Level equivalence marks.
Is there negative marking in NET?
No. NET has 200 MCQs in 180 minutes and no negative marking.

Can pre-medical students apply for engineering at NUST?

Can I get admission through SAT?
Yes. NUST accepts ACT/SAT scores for national and international seats; applications for Fall 2027 close on 25 July 2027. SAT code 2790, ACT code 2915.
Is a hostel guaranteed?
No. Hostels at H-12 are allotted by seniority, mainly to outstation students. First- to third-semester national UG students get tri-seater rooms.
