Sui Gas Bill Calculator 2026 (SNGPL & SSGC)

Estimate your domestic gas bill from your units (hm³) or meter readings. Uses OGRA’s protected and non-protected slabs, the one-preceding-slab benefit, fixed charges, meter rent and 18% GST. Every rate can be changed under Manual parameters.

Printed on your bill. Not sure? Use the winter check below.

Your consumption

1 hm³ = 100 cubic metres. Shown on your bill as “HM3”
First five black digits on your meter
Slabs are applied on a 30-day basis
Manual parameters (change if OGRA notifies new rates or your bill shows different values)

GCV and pressure factor are printed on your bill. Rates are Rs per MMBTU.

Only for RLNG-based connections

Protected slab rates

Non-protected slab rates

Am I protected? Winter check (Nov–Feb)

Protected status depends on your average consumption in the last four winter months (November, December, January, February). Enter those months from your bill history.

How your Sui gas bill is calculated

  1. Units: current reading minus previous reading, in cubic metres. 100 m³ = 1 hm³.
  2. Convert to MMBTU: MMBTU = (m³ × pressure factor ÷ 28.174) × GCV ÷ 1,000. At the usual GCV of about 990, 1 hm³ ≈ 3.5 MMBTU.
  3. Apply the slab rate for your category (protected or non-protected), on a 30-day basis, with the one-preceding-slab benefit.
  4. Add fixed charges and Rs 40 meter rent, then 18% GST.

OGRA domestic gas tariff (in force for 2026-27)

OGRA’s notification effective 1 July 2025 applies to both SNGPL and SSGC. For 2026-27 the government kept consumer prices unchanged, even though OGRA cut the companies’ prescribed prices from 1 July 2026.

Fixed chargeRs 1,500 (up to 1.5 hm³) · Rs 3,000 (above 1.5 hm³)

Meter rent: Rs 40/month for normal domestic meters (G1.6 and G4). Prices exclude 18% GST.

The one-preceding-slab benefit, explained

You don’t pay your top slab rate on every unit. Units up to the top of the previous slab are charged at that previous slab’s rate, and only the rest at your slab’s rate. Example: a non-protected home using 2 hm³ pays 1.5 hm³ at Rs 1,450 and 0.5 hm³ at Rs 1,900. Above 4 hm³ there is no benefit: every unit is charged at Rs 4,200, so crossing 4 hm³ makes the bill jump sharply.

Protected vs non-protected: who is which?

  • Protected: a domestic consumer whose average use in the last four winter months (November, December, January, February) is 0.9 hm³ or less (90 m³ a month, 360 m³ in total).
  • Non-protected: everyone else.
  • When does it change? Your category is set from the previous winter’s average, so a heavy winter (for example, running a gas heater all of January) can move you to non-protected for the following year. A careful winter can move you back. Your category is printed on every bill. Check it in March, after the February reading.
  • Protected slabs only go up to 0.9 hm³. If a protected home uses more in a single month, expect that month to be charged much higher. The calculator shows this case.

Other charges on your bill

  • Late payment surcharge: 10% of the current bill for domestic consumers if paid after the due date (SSGC).
  • Meter rent: Rs 40 per month.
  • GST: 18%.
  • Arrears, installments, PUG and slow-meter charges appear only when they apply.
  • New RLNG connections: billed at OGRA’s monthly RLNG price, not these slabs. Choose “RLNG connection” in the calculator and enter the rate from your bill.

How to save on your gas bill

  1. Stay below 1.5 hm³ (150 m³) a month: above it, the fixed charge doubles from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000.
  2. Never cross 4 hm³ (400 m³): you lose the slab benefit and every unit costs Rs 4,200.
  3. Protect your winter average: keep November–February at about 90 m³ a month to stay or become protected. Your rate drops to Rs 200–350 and the fixed charge to Rs 600.
  4. Gas heaters use the most gas. One heater running 8 hours a day can use about 0.7 hm³ (70 m³) a month. Heat one room, close doors, and switch to an electric or inverter AC heater where you can.
  5. Geysers: use the thermostat or a timer, insulate the tank, and switch off the pilot in summer. Instant geysers and solar water heaters cut gas use sharply.
  6. Cooking: use lids, pressure cookers, and keep the flame blue and burners clean. A yellow flame wastes gas.
  7. Check for leaks: spray soapy water on joints; bubbles mean a leak. Report leaks to the gas company helpline 1199.
  8. Read your own meter: compare it with the bill. If the reading is wrong, complain before paying.
  9. Pay before the due date to avoid the 10% surcharge.

Frequently asked questions

What is hm³ on a gas bill?

SNGPL and SSGC use hm³ to mean 100 cubic metres. If your meter moved by 120 m³, your consumption is 1.2 hm³.

How many MMBTU are in 1 hm³?

About 3.5 MMBTU at a GCV of 990 BTU/SCF. Your bill shows the exact GCV and pressure factor; enter them under Manual parameters.

Have gas prices changed in 2026-27?

No. OGRA lowered the companies’ prescribed prices from 1 July 2026, but the government kept consumer tariffs at the 1 July 2025 levels. If OGRA notifies new rates, you can enter them under Manual parameters.

How do I become a protected gas consumer?

Keep your average November–February consumption at or below 0.9 hm³ (90 m³ a month).

Where can I see my duplicate gas bill?

Use our Sui Gas Duplicate Bill page. It takes you to the official SNGPL or SSGC bill page.
